Shellfish habitat and abundance maps identify and protect essential fisheries habitat. This information is used by coastal resource managers in the permit review process, in the designation of critical habitat, and in shellfish restoration and enhancement efforts. Recreational and commercial fisherman harvesting shellfish, on public or private bottom, can also benefit from this information. Coordination and cooperation with other local, state and federal agencies and universities are important objectives of the program. Click on the map to see a larger version.
