![]() Shipwrecked! They don't call the North Carolina coast the Graveyard of the Atlantic for nothing! The many shipwrecks along the Carolina coast provide an excellent habitat for all types of marine life. Little fish, big fish, red fish, blue fish...all can be found somewhere among the wreckage. Some of these wrecks are right along the shoreline while others are out in the deep ocean. Some of the ships sank during storms and foul weather, while others were sunk as a result of warfare on the high seas! And some ships were sunk on purpose (thats purpose..NOT porpoise!). Yes that's right sometimes old ships and boats are sunk to provide homes for fish! They help to form part of North Carolina's Artificial Reef System. These wrecks and reefs provide a great place for fishermen and scuba divers to find all types of marine life. Lets drop a line and see what is catchin'! Go back and pick another Fishin' Spot. |
