PROCLAMATION

P. Pate, Jr., Director, Division of
Marine Fisheries, hereby announces that effective at 6:00 A.M., Monday, June 18, 2001, the following restrictions will
apply to the weakfish fishery for recreational
purposes or by hook-and-line:
A)
No person may possess weakfish less
than 12” total length.
B) Fishermen must abide by one or the other of
the size/creel limits below. If two or
more individuals are fishing from a vessel, then all fishermen aboard the
vessel must abide by the same size/creel limit which will be determined by the
smallest legal sized weakfish in possession.
1) No
person may possess more than four (4) weakfish per day if any of the fish are
less than 14” total length, OR:
2) No
person may possess more than ten (10) weakfish per day 14” or greater total
length.
II. GENERAL INFORMATION
A. This
proclamation is issued under the authority of G.S. 113-182; 113-221(e);
143B-289.52 and N.C. Marine Fisheries Rules 15A NCAC 3H .0103 and 3M .0504.
B. It is unlawful to violate the provisions of
any proclamation issued by the Fisheries Director under his delegated authority
per 15A NCAC 3H .0103.
C. This proclamation is issued to implement
options within the conservation equivalency of weakfish size and creel limits
under the Amendment #3 of the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission’s
Weakfish Management Plan.
D. This proclamation supersedes Section II. in Proclamation FF-29-2000 dated May 19, 2000.
