PROCLAMATION
RE: 2010 SHRIMP AND CRAB TRAWLING
Dr. Louis B. Daniel III, Director, Division of Marine Fisheries, hereby announces that the following action regarding shrimp and crab trawling will be effective at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, October 2, 2010:
I. RULE SUSPENSION
North Carolina Marine Fisheries Rules 15A NCAC 03J .0104 (b)(1) and 15A NCAC 03L .0102 are suspended for the period from 12:00 noon on Saturday, October 2 through Sunday, October 3, 2010 at 5:00 P.M. ONLY.
II. GENERAL INFORMATION
A. This proclamation is issued under the authority of N.C.G.S. 113-170.4; 113-170.5; 181; 113-182; 113-221.1; 143B-289.52 and Marine Fisheries Rules 15A NCAC 03H .0103, 03I .0102, 03L .0101, 03L .0202.
B. It is unlawful to violate the provisions of any proclamation issued by the Fisheries Director under his delegated authority pursuant to Marine Fisheries Rule 15A NCAC 03H .0103.
C. This action will allow the harvest of shrimp from noon on Saturday through 5:00 P.M. on Sunday due to the record amounts of rainfall in coastal areas. Shrimp and crab trawling will be allowed in open areas with legal trawls only for these two days. Otter trawls are prohibited above the Highway 172 bridge in New River.
