AND CRAB TRAWLING

following areas WILL OPEN to
shrimping and crab trawling effective at 7:00
A.M., Wednesday, August 21, 2002.
ONSLOW COUNTY
Intracoastal
Waterway (ICW) -
main ICW channel only from the N.C. Highway 210 high rise bridge to Marker #17
north of Alligator Bay and the ICW channel and 100 feet on either side from
Marker #49 at Morris Landing to the Highway 210-50 Bridge at Surf City.
New River
- from the N.C. Highway 172 Bridge upstream to a line running from Gray Point
34°
37' 35" N - 77°
22' 23" W, running 134° (M) to a point on the east shore at 34° 37' 08"
N - 77°
21' 38" W. That area west of a line
beginning at a point at Stones Landing 34° 36' 21" N - 77° 26' 30"
W, thence running 010°
(M) to a point on the east shore of Muddy Creek, 34° 36' 52"
N - 77°
26' 27" W and all tributaries downstream
of Gray Point will remain closed.
CHADWICK BAY
- marked boat channel only, from the ICW at Marker #6 to the mouth of Fullard
Creek. ALL TRIBUTARIES, INCLUDING BUMP=S CREEK AND CHADWICK
BAY ADJACENT TO THE MARKED BOAT CHANNEL WILL REMAIN CLOSED.
BRUNSWICK COUNTY
Intracoastal Waterway
(ICW) - main channel only from the Ocean Isle Beach bridge to the
South Carolina state line.
CALABASH RIVER
- south of a line beginning at a point on the south shore at 33° 53' 09" N
- 78° 33' 51" W, running 093° (M) to a point on the north shore at 33° 53'
09" N - 78° 33' 39" W.
GENERAL
INFORMATION:
A) This proclamation is issued under the authority of G.S. 113-170.4;
113-170.5; 113-182; 113-221(e); 143B-289.52 and N.C. Marine Fisheries Rules 15A
NCAC 3H .0103, 3L .0101 and .0202.
B) It is unlawful to violate the provisions of any proclamation
issued by the Fisheries Director under his delegated authority per 15A NCAC 3H
.0103.
C) All shellfish leases and franchises will remain closed to trawling
as per NC Marine Fisheries Rule NCAC 15A 30 .0211.
D) This action is being taken because shrimp in the areas listed
above have reached harvestable size.
