2002 SHRIMPING AND CRAB TRAWLING

Pate, Jr., Director, Division of Marine Fisheries, hereby announces that the
following areas WILL OPEN to
shrimping and crab trawling effective at 7:00
A.M.,Tuesday, October 8, 2002.
NEW HANOVER/BRUNSWICK COUNTIES
Cape Fear River - south of a
line beginning at a point on the east shore at 34°
04' 40"N-77° 55'
29"W, running 274° (M) to a
point on the west shore at 34° 04'
40"N- 77° 56'
30"W, including the ATriangle@ area, the Wilmington Bypass
Channel and the ICW from Marker #163 to the Cape Fear River Ship Channel and
north of a line beginning at a point on the south side of the Spoil Island at
the intersection of the ICW and the Cape Fear River ship Channel at 34° 01' 37"N-77° 56'
05"W, running 106°(M) to a point
on the east shore of the Cape Fear River at 34°
01' 32"N-77° 55'
00"W. Those areas south of the area opened and east of the ICW known as ADow Chemical Bay@ and ARadar Dome Bay@
will remain closed.
GENERAL
INFORMATION:
A) This proclamation
is issued under the authority of G.S. 170.4; 170.5; 113-182; 113-221(e);
143B-289.52 and N.C. Marine Fisheries Rules 15A NCAC 3H .0103, 3L .0101 and
.0202.
B) It is unlawful to
violate the provisions of any proclamation issued by the Fisheries Director
under his delegated authority per 15A NCAC 3H .0103.
C) All shellfish
leases and franchises will remain closed to trawling as per NC Marine Fisheries
Rule NCAC 15A 30 .0211.
D) This action is
being taken because shrimp in the areas listed above have reached harvestable
size.
