Fisheries, hereby announces that the following areas WILL OPEN to shrimping and crab trawling, effective at 8:00 a.m., Friday, July 12, 2002:
CAPE FEAR RIVER - All waters south of a line beginning at a point on
the north side of Snow=s Cut opposite Marker #163, then following the north
side of the ICWW Channel to the range marker west of ICWW Marker #167, through
Cape Fear River Buoy #38 to a point south of Orton Point on the west side of
the river EXCEPT THAT THOSE AREAS SOUTH of a line
beginning at a point on the south side of the Spoil Island at the intersection
of the ICWW and the Cape Fear River Ship Channel at 34° 01' 37" N - 77° 56' 05" W, running 106° (M) to a point on the east shore of the Cape Fear River at 34° 01' 32" N - 77° 55' 00" W including the
areas known as ADow Chemical Bay@
and ARadar Dome Bay@ WILL REMAIN CLOSED. (Map 1)
CAROLINA BEACH BOAT BASIN - from the Intracoastal Waterway Marker #161 to the
Municipal Docks.
BALDHEAD CREEK - northwest of a line beginning at a point on the
south shore at 33° 51' 45" N - 77° 59' 13"
W, running 057° (M) to a point on the north shore at 33° 57' 47" N - 77° 59' 12" W. ALL
TRIBUTARIES, INCLUDING FISHING CREEK, WILL REMAIN CLOSED.
CAPE CREEK - northwest of a line beginning at a point on the
south shore at 33° 51' 53" N - 77° 58' 21"
W, running 026° (M) to a point on the north shore at 33° 51' 58" N - 77° 58' 18" W. ALL
TRIBUTARIES WILL REMAIN CLOSED.
BAY CREEK - from the Cape Fear River to the junction of Deep
and Bluff Island creeks.
INTRACOASTAL WATERWAY - main channel only, from Marker #18 to the Holden
Beach Bridge.
CAROLINA
POWER AND LIGHT BY-PASS CHANNEL -
dredged canal north of the Intracoastal Waterway from the waterway to the
Wildlife boat ramp and the dredged portion of Piney Point Creek south of the
Intracoastal Waterway. ALL TRIBUTARIES OF THE CANALS WILL
REMAIN CLOSED.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
A) This proclamation is issued under the authority of G.S.
113-170.4; 113-170.5; 113-182; 113-221 (e); 143B-289.52 and N.C. Marine
Fisheries Rules 15A NCAC 3H .0103; 3L .0101 and .0202.
B) It is unlawful to violate the provisions of any proclamation
issued by the Fisheries Director under his delegated authority per 15A NCAC 3H
.0103.
C) This proclamation supersedes portions of SH-2–2002 dated
April 18, 2002 and SH-3 –2002 dated May 30, 2002.
