PROCLAMATION

 

RE: SHELLFISH MANAGEMENT AREA

 

Preston P. Pate, Jr., Director, Division of Marine Fisheries, hereby announces that effective at sunrise, Monday, May 12, 2003 the following changes will occur in shellfish harvesting:

 

I.    HARVEST RESTRICTIONS

 

The Shellfish Management Areas listed below WILL OPEN to the taking of clams by hand or hand rakes and WILL CLOSE by this proclamation effective at sunset on Tuesday, May 13, 2003.

 

II.   AREA

 

BRUNSWICK COUNTY

 

LOCKWOOD FOLLY RIVER  AREA

 

1.       All portions of Cross Rock OMA as shown on the attached map.

2.       All portions of the Galloway Flats OMA and Spring Branch OMA as shown on the attached map.

 

III.    GEAR RESTRICTIONS

 

It is unlawful to use a rake more than 12 inches wide or weighing more than six pounds to take clams in these management areas.

 

IV.  GENERAL INFORMATION

 

A.   This proclamation is issued under the authority of G.S. 113- 170.4; 113-170.5; 113-182; 113-221(e); 143B-289.52 and implementing N.C. Marine Fisheries Rules 15A NCAC 3H .0103 and 3K .0103.

 

B.   It is unlawful to violate the provisions of any proclamation issued by the Fisheries Director under his delegated authority per 15A NCAC 3H .0103.
