PROCLAMATION
RE:
2003 SHRIMPING AND CRAB TRAWLING

Pate, Jr., Director, Division of Marine Fisheries, hereby announces that the
following areas WILL CLOSE to
shrimping and crab trawling, effective 8:30
A.M., Wednesday June 25, 2003:
BRUNSWICK COUNTY
Atlantic Ocean – that area bounded by a line
extending from Bald Head Lighthouse to Cape Fear River Ship Channel Buoy “9”;
then to the Lockwood Folly Inlet Sea Buoy; then to the west end of Oak Island;
then following the shoreline eastward to the Oak Island Lighthouse then to the
Bald Head Lighthouse.
Elizabeth River - that area in the Elizabeth River and
Dutchman Creek between the Intracoastal Waterway and the Cape Fear River.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
A) This proclamation is issued under the
authority of G.S. 113-170.4; 113-170.5; 113-182; 113-221(e); 143B-289.52 and
N.C. Marine Fisheries Rules 15A NCAC 3H .0103; 3L .0101 and .0202.
B) It is unlawful to violate the provisions of
any proclamation issued by the Fisheries Director under his delegated authority
per 15A NCAC 3H .0103.
C)
This action is being taken to protect small brown shrimp
that are present in this area.
D) This proclamation supersedes portions of
SH-2-2003, issued April 25, 2003, which opened these areas.
