RE: 2003 SHRIMPING AND CRAB TRAWLING

following areas WILL OPEN to
shrimping and crab trawling, effective at 8:00
A.M. Monday, July 14, 2003:
ONSLOW/CARTERET COUNTIES
WHITE OAK RIVER - south of a line beginning
on Bluff Point at 34E 45.4500’ N -77E 07.6500’ W; running
easterly to a point on the east shore (locally known as Alligator Gap) at 34E 45.4500' N - 77E 07.1166’ W. ALL
TRIBUTARIES WILL REMAIN CLOSED.
FOSTER'S CREEK - near Intracoastal
Waterway Marker #48.
QUEENS CREEK - from the Intracoastal Waterway to N.C.
Secondary Highway 1509 Bridge. ALL TRIBUTARIES, INCLUDING PARROTT SWAMP
AND DICK'S CREEK, WILL REMAIN CLOSED.
BEAR CREEK - from the Intracoastal Waterway to Willis
Landing.
CHADWICK BAY- marked boat channel only,
from the ICW at Marker #6 to the mouth of Fullard Creek.
ALL TRIBUTARIES, INCLUDING
BUMP’S CREEK AND CHADWICK BAY ADJACENT TO THE
MARKED BOAT CHANNEL WILL REMAIN CLOSED.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
A.
This
proclamation is issued under the authority of G.S. 113-170.4; 113-170.5;
113-182; 113-221 (e); 143B-289.52 and N.C. Marine Fisheries Rules 15A NCAC 3H
.0103; 3L .0101 and .0202.
B.
It
is unlawful to violate the provisions of any proclamation issued by the
Fisheries Director under his delegated authority per 15A NCAC 3H .0103.
C. Nursery areas and prohibited trawl
areas described in N.C Fisheries Rules 15A NCAC 3R .0103, .0104, .0105 and .0106 remain
closed to shrimp trawling.
D.
This action is being taken because
shrimp in the areas listed above have reached harvestable size. This proclamation supersedes portions
of SH-4-2003, dated June 2, 2003 that pertain to these areas.
