RE: 2003 SHRIMPING
AND CRAB TRAWLING

P. Pate, Jr., Director, Division of Marine Fisheries, hereby announces that the
following areas WILL OPEN to
shrimping and crab trawling effective at 9:00
A.M., Wednesday, September 17, 2003.
ONSLOW COUNTY
Intracoastal Waterway
(ICW)
- main ICW channel only from the N.C. Highway 210 high rise
bridge to Marker #17 north of Alligator Bay.
Intracoastal Waterway
– main ICW channel only from Marker #134 to Marker #161 at Snow’s Cut.
BRUNSWICK COUNTY
Intracoastal Waterway
(ICW) - main ICW channel only from Marker #16 to the Ocean Isle
Beach bridge.
GENERAL
INFORMATION:
A. This proclamation is issued under the authority of G.S. 113-170.4;
113-170.5; 113-182; 113-221(e); 143B-289.52 and N.C. Marine Fisheries Rules 15A
NCAC 3H .0103, 3L .0101 and .0202.
B. It is unlawful to violate the provisions of any proclamation
issued by the Fisheries Director under his delegated authority per 15A NCAC 3H
.0103.
C. The opening of New River
has been postponed due to Hurricane Isabel and will be opened at a later date. The
Intracoastal Waterway channel areas described above will open as originally
scheduled.
D. All shellfish leases and franchises will remain closed to trawling as per NC Marine Fisheries Rule NCAC 15A 30 .0211.
E. This action is being taken because shrimp in the areas listed
above have reached harvestable size.
This proclamation supersedes Proclamation SH-24-2003, dated
September 12, 2003.
