RE: CRAB, EEL, FISH AND SHRIMP POTS

Fisheries, hereby announces that effective at 7:00 A.M., Monday, April 18, 2005, the following will apply to
crab, eel, fish, and shrimp pots:
Pots MAY NOT
BE SET in the following area from 7:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. on April 18, 2005.
I.
East Thorofare Bay (Barry Bay) –Carteret County
In an area bound by a line beginning at a point on the north shore 34° 55.2697’N – 76° 19.9708’W; running northeasterly to Marker “1” at 34° 55.5410’N – 76° 193928’W; running southeasterly to a point at 34° 55.1437’N – 76° 18.7243’W; running southerly to a point near Hall Point at 34° 54.4493’N – 76° 18.9797’W; running westerly and following the shoreline to the point of beginning (see map).
II. GENERAL INFORMATION:
A. This proclamation is issued under the
authority of G.S. 113-170.4; 113-170.5; 113-182; 113-221(e); 143B-289.52 and
N.C. Marine Fisheries Rules 15A NCAC 3H.0103 and 3J.0301.
B. It is unlawful to violate the provisions of
any proclamation issued by the Fisheries Director under his delegated authority
per N.C. Marine Fisheries Rule 15A NCAC 3H.0103.
C.
The intent of this
proclamation is to allow long haul seining to occur in an area free of crab
pots. The proclamation will be used to avert
user conflict between April 1 and July 30 of each year. The proclamation was approved by the Marine
Fisheries Commission on July 20, 2004 in accordance with Marine Fisheries Rule
15A NCAC 3J .0301 (j) (4).
D.
Hatched area on the attached map indicates the area designated for
long haul operations. Pots must be removed from this area during the
times indicated above.
