SH-18-2005 RE: 2005 SHRIMPING AND CRAB TRAWLING Preston P. Pate, Jr., Director, Division of Marine Fisheries, hereby announces that the following change will occur in crab trawling restrictions, effective at 12:01 a.m., Monday, October 24, 2005: I. AREA DESCRIPTION Western Pamlico Sound – West of a line beginning at a point 35° 4 .6167’ N – 76° 27.8000’W on Point of Marsh; running easterly to a point 35° 8 .1000’N – 76° 17 .5000’W at the “BI” Marker at Brant Island Shoal; running easterly to a point 35° 12 .6167’N – 76° 4 .3833’W at the “BL” Marker on Bluff Shoal; running northeasterly to a point 35° 30 .7500’N - 76° 40 .5667’W at the “S” Marker at Long Shoal; running northerly to a point 35° 48 .3000’N – 75° 37 .1167’W at Marker “1” at the southern end of Roanoke Island; running westerly to a point on shore 35° 48.3693’N – 75° 43.7232’W on Roanoke Marshes Point.
It is unlawful to use a crab trawl in the area described above with a trawl mesh size less than four (4) inches. III. GENERAL INFORMATION: A. This proclamation is issued under the authority of G.S. 113-170.4; 113-170.5; 113-182; 113-221.1; 143B-289.52 and Marine Fisheries Rules 15A NCAC 3H .0103; 3L .0101 and .0202.
