PROCLAMATION

RE: 2006 SHRIMP AND CRAB TRAWLING

Preston P. Pate, Jr., Director, Division of Marine Fisheries, hereby announces that the following area WILL OPEN to shrimping and crab trawling, effective at 5:00 P.M., Sunday, July 30, 2006:

AREA DESCRIPTIONS

A. CARTERET COUNTY

West Bay-Long Bay- (Map 1)

B. ONSLOW/CARTERET COUNTIES

White Oak River - south of a line beginning at a point on the west side of the river 34° 43 .3425’ N –77° 07 .2209’ W; running northerly to a point 34° 43 .6445’ N – 77° 07 .3177" W in the river above Cahoon’s Slough; running easterly to a point 34° 43.5588’N – 77° 06.6206’ W at Hancock Point. ALL TRIBUTARIES WILL REMAIN CLOSED. (Map 2)

C. ONSLOW COUNTY

1. Foster’s Creek - near Intracoastal Waterway Marker #48. (Map 2)
2. Queens Creek - from the Intracoastal Waterway to N.C. Secondary Highway 1509 Bridge. ALL TRIBUTARIES, INCLUDING PARROTT SWAMP AND DICK'S CREEK, WILL REMAIN CLOSED. (Map 2)
3. Bear Creek - from the Intracoastal Waterway to Willis Landing. (Map 2)

II. GENERAL INFORMATION:

A. This proclamation is issued under the authority of N.C.G.S. 113-170.4; 113-170.5; 113-182; 113-221.1; 143B-289.52 and N.C. Marine Fisheries Rules 15A NCAC 3H .0103; 3L .0101 and .0202.

B. It is unlawful to violate the provisions of any proclamation issued by the Fisheries Director under his delegated authority pursuant to N.C. Marine Fisheries Rule 15A NCAC 3H .0103.

C. This action is being taken to allow the harvest of brown shrimp.

D. This proclamation supersedes the portions of Proclamation SH-5-2006, dated June 20, 2006 that deal with these areas.
