RS-6-2007 PROCLAMATION RE: RESEARCH SANCTUARY Dr. Louis B. Daniel III, Director, Division of Marine Fisheries, hereby announces that effective at 8:00 A.M., Monday, September 3, 2007, the following areas are declared RESEARCH SANCTUARIES and ARE CLOSED to all fishing equipment until 12:01 A.M., January 1, 2008: II. CARTERET COUNTY A. Core Sound, Yellow Shoal (IMS RS 1 on the attached map) An area consisting of approximately 0.58 acres on Yellow Shoal as shown on the attached map. The area is delineated as described below. An area within 90 feet of a stake located at 34° 43.225’ N – 76° 28.277’ W. B. Back Sound, Middle Marsh (IMS RS 2 on the attached map) An area consisting of approximately 0.58 acres in Middle Marsh as shown on the attached map. The area is delineated as described below. An area within 90 feet of a stake located at 34° 41.560’ N – 76° 37.324’ W. C. Bogue Sound near Hoop Pole Creek (IMS RS 3 on the attached map) An area consisting of approximately 0.58 acres west of the Hoop Pole Creek as shown on the attached map. The area is delineated as described below. An area within (0 feet of a stake located at 34° 42.534’ N – 76° 45.479’ W. D. Bogue Sound near Lovett Island (IMS RS 4&5 on the attached map) (1) An area consisting of approximately 0.58 acres east of Lovett Island as shown on the attached map. The area is delineated as described below. An area within 90 feet of a stake located at 34° 41.578’ N – 76° 59.137’ W. (2) An area consisting of approximately 0.20 acres east of Lovett Island as shown on the attached map. The area is delineated as described below. An area within 50 feet of a stake located at 34° 41.578’ N – 76° 59.137’ W. II. GENERAL INFORMATION: A. This proclamation is issued under the authority of G.S. 113-170.4; 113-170.5; 113-182; 113-221.1; 143B-289.52; and N.C. Marine Fisheries Rules 15A NCAC 3H .0103 and 3I .0109. B. It is unlawful to violate provisions of any proclamation issued by the Fisheries Director under his delegated authority pursuant to N.C. Marine Fisheries Rule 15A NCAC 3H .0103. C. Stakes and signs posted by the applicant will mark the area closed to fish and shellfish harvest. D. This action is being taken to allow the UNC Institute of Marine Sciences to conduct research for bay scallop restoration.
