RS-9-2007 PROCLAMATION RE: RESEARCH SANCTUARY Dr. Louis B. Daniel III Director, Division of Marine Fisheries, hereby announces that effective at 12:00 P.M., Monday, September 17, 2007, the following area will be declared a RESEARCH SANCTUARY: I. AREA DESCRIPTION ONSLOW COUNTY In New River at the mouths of Fannie and Wheeler Creeks. The area is approximately six acres in size and is delineated by six pilings and signs as shown on the attached map. II. GENERAL INFORMATION: A. This proclamation is issued under the authority of N.C.G.S. 113-182; 113-221.1; 143B-289.52; and N.C. Marine Fisheries Rules 15A NCAC 3H .0103 and 3I .0109. B. It is unlawful to violate provisions of any proclamation issued by the Fisheries Director under his delegated authority pursuant to N.C. Marine Fisheries Rule 15A NCAC 3H .0103. C. These areas will be used by the North Carolina Coastal Federation and the Aquarium=s Oyster Hatchery program to conduct research on oyster larvae/spat growth and survival. D. N.C. Marine Fisheries Rule 15A NCAC 3I .0109, specifies that these Research Sanctuaries are in effect for one year, subject to renewal at the end of that year. September 13, 2007 |
