PROCLAMATION

RE: 2008 OYSTER SEASON CLOSURE

Dr. Louis B. Daniel III, Director, Division of Marine Fisheries, hereby announces that the oyster harvest season WILL CLOSE as indicated in the following areas:

I. BRUNSWICK COUNTY – LOCKWOODS FOLLY RIVER
Effective sunset Friday, March 14, 2008.
Lockwoods Folly River – all waters east of a line beginning on the north shore at a point 33° 55.3515’N – 78° 14.0065’W; running southerly to a point on the south shore 33°55.2245’N - 78°14.0782’W (see attached map).
II. ALL COASTAL FISHING WATERS

Effective sunset Monday, March 31, 2008.

II. GENERAL INFORMATION:

A. This proclamation is issued under the authority of N.C.G.S. 113-170.4; 113-170.5; 113-182; 113-221.1; 143B-289.52; and N.C. Marine Fisheries Rules 15A NCAC 3H .0103, 3K .0201, 3K .0202, and 3K .0205.

B. It is unlawful to violate the provisions of any proclamation issued by the Fisheries Director under his delegated authority pursuant to N.C. Fisheries Rule15A NCAC 3H .0103.

C. Oysters marketed from private beds must be accompanied by a certification form as required by N. C. Marine Fisheries Rule 15A NCAC 3K .0205.

D. This action is being taken because the majority of legal size oysters in Lockwoods Folly River in Brunswick County have been harvested.
