Eligibility Pool Process

If you do not currently hold a Standard Commercial Fishing License (SCFL) or a Retired Commercial Fishing License (RSCFL), and meet the criteria below, you may be eligible for a license through the Eligibility Pool.
     
A. Significant involvement in commercial fishing three (3) of the last five (5) years; OR

B. Significant involvement in commercial fishing prior to the last five (5) years; OR

C. Fifty (50%) percent or more of total annual income derived from commercial fishing involvement for at least three (3) years; OR

D. Seventy-five (75%) percent or more of total annual income derived from commercial fishing involvement for three (3) of the last five (5) years; OR

E. Turned 16 years of age in the year prior to application have significant involvement in commercial fishing for two (2) of the last five (5) years with a parent, guardian, grandparent or other adult family member; OR

F. Involvement of applicant's family for the last five (5) years (for the purpose of this item, family shall include mother, father, brother, sister, spouse, children, grandparents, stepparents, or legal guardian).

In order to be considered, applicants must complete and submit an application with supporting documentation to the Division of Marine Fisheries Eligibility Office. The completed application will be researched and submitted to the Eligibility Board for review and they will issue a decision.
