Fish Dealer's License
The Fish Dealer's License is an annual license available only to North Carolina residents with a physical address/established location in North Carolina. Fish Dealers are required to buy seafood only from licensed commercial fishermen. This license is required for anyone who buys seafood directly from a fisherman and is also required for fishermen who sell their catch to the public. All fish and shellfish must be purchased from a licensed dealer to resell. Under the new system, there will be no separation of “processed” and “unprocessed” dealers.
In addition, a Fish Dealers License will be required for ocean fishing pier operators or other people that deal in bait. To deal in bait - purchase bait from a licensed fisherman, or catch and sell bait to the public - a Fish Dealers License with either a Shrimp or Finfish Category is required. The Shrimp Category is needed to deal in minnows and shrimp and the Finfish Category is needed to deal in minnows and live shrimp. |
