Contact: Patricia Smith MARINE FISHERIES COMMISSION EXTENDS COMMERCIAL POUND NET SEASON MOREHEAD CITY – The N.C. Marine Fisheries Commission voted today to instruct Division of Marine Fisheries Director Louis Daniel to extend the commercial flounder season for pound nets in all state waters. The division will issue a proclamation today extending the commercial southern flounder season for pound nets until 6 p.m. Dec. 15. The extension does not apply to any other commercial gear. The southern flounder season had been slated to close after Nov. 30 under state management measures adopted in 2005. |
